this is whats it's costing Total : £1,928.40

now the questions i have

whats this business about sound acceleration under vista.. will the sound card i picked be ok, i just read that vista does not use direct sound.. or something along them lines.

also is the psu enough.. regarding the rails, i read it's best to have more amps on thr 12v rail, as you can see im not so clued up where this is concerned so thats why im asking.

Now my main concern is the motherboard.. i have no idea on the different chipsets intel have on offer, as you can see i will be using a nvidia card and i have no plans for sli. i just want a good quality board thats going to be stable. and is the memory good enough for the motherboard.

I will be gaming on the rig mostly so it needs to be stable.

thank for for your help, as soon as i get enough input i will be ordering this today or tomorrow.

again many thanks.

ok a 2k budget :)

here we go:

It is all compatible although the soundcard is probably not going to work well if at all, I'd suggest the Asus Xonar DX2 if gaming is the aim instead as it has no such driver problems.

The PSU is massive overkill, something like the HX 620w by the same manufacturer will be more than sufficient for almost anything you could add to that PC and it will save money as well.

The P45 is supposed to be a good chipset, quite close to the X series in performance and overclocking ability. It doesn't matter that you are using a Nvidia card with it.

//edit or take the basics of shaffaaf27s specification and tweak it slightly as if you aren't overclocking then PC8500 isn't strictly necessary. :)

People may disagree, but i would personally get the Asus Maximus II Formula and 1 X 4870. You can Xfire as needed at a later date. Also, swap the 24inch monitor for the OCUK value 24 and the 9450 for a Q6600 and last but not least, get the TRU 120 instead of the TT.

thanks for a replies people. i did change a few things around and ive now placed the order to be delivered this saturday :D
