Building a new Rig - which GPU?

Ok so I'm building a new system and will most probably be ordering the majority of the components this week.. all but the GPU.

I'll be going with a 6600K build and most probably a 1440p monitor.

My question is about the GPU.. which to get??!

The GTX1080 is a little pricey for my liking. I have had a 970 in the past and at 1440 I think it will struggle a little.

My question is to either go with a 1070 or possibly a second hand 980ti?

I think both should do the resolution justice.

Another factor which comes in to play is my impatience - when are the 1070's out and at what price?

Any input on this would be appreciated!

I've only ever really known Nvidia cards so I'll be sticking with those this time around again (before anyone suggests a AMD card).

if you can find a good custom 980ti under 300£ go for it, if it's over 300£ just wait for 1070.
