Hello again all,

I've decided to build myself a new PC, as the last one I built (with advice and components recommended from you all) is starting to show it's age a bit. Still running an AMD A64 3000+ actually!

Trouble is, I've not been following the latest developments for quite a while now, so when it comes to the likes of graphics cards, I'm clueless as to what would be the best buy.

I'm looking to spend about £600-£650 on the rig, with a Core 2 Duo processor, a 500GB SATAII HDD (OcUK have a good Barracuda 7200 for £74 that's caught my eye), a graphics card that'll run the latest games (although it doesn't have to run them all at maximum settings) as obviously I could end up spending about £300 on a really good card, but I'm pretty much stuck with this budget. To round things out, I was going to go with 2GB of RAM initially which I could expand later on.

So would anyone be able to make some recommendations on a decent GFX card and CPU/Mobo combo?

Thanks all :)

Bit of a dodgy time to upgrade with serious cash. New CPU's and GFX cards will be out in a few months. You could invest in a x38 or x48 in the meantime and build around that. But if you don't want to be at the forefront then theres plenty of power in the current tech.

well to cut some corners for ** graphics u can go for "powerful nd latest" which means u can play all the new games with a high spec in which case you should go for an Nvidia Geforce 8800. However, to save some money you could buy an ATI Radeon x1950. That was my last card nd it is still not past its prime, i found it very good, ver reliable nd will play most new games on medium spec. Those are what I think for graphics.

Also, a useful piece of advice, you can get your RAM, CPU and motherboard in one bundle from the overclockers site, that's what I did and i found it rather convinient.

Hope I've helped.
