Righhhtt the time has come for me to update my pc and get a new gaming build that is going to last me some years and also play top end games at a good spec.. What ive had for the past 3-4 years now is a Q6600 chip / Asus Striker 2 extreme / 4GB corsair / gt260 graphics..

That has lasted me long enough and plays games to a good standard but now i want an upgrade, Since i built my old pc many years ago a lot has changed.. I dont know wether to change to AMD as there a reasonable price and run pretty well or stay with Intel and get an i5/i7

If anyone could give me some good ideas wether which is better AMD or Intel and what will play recent games (diablo 3 when its due, WoW and much more) I already have a graphics card sorted Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560Ti OC 1024MB GDDR5 :D

Ive been told the 2500k i5 is really good compared to Phonem hex core's but a lot of people say differently about both. If anyone could possibly help me with a system build that would be great! Im not into overclocking either as im not the best at doing it and i dont know what im doing or what cooling i need.. Im looking to spend about £700 (without graphics card as i already have) Mannny thanks :D

The word on the street is that the Intel chips are far superior and i tend to agree.

For gaming, I`d go with one of the many available pre-overclocked i5 2500K bundles such as:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-063-OE

Would consider looking at a 2Gb VRam version of the Graphics card you have there however as some current games and future are proving to require at least that for optimal performance.

Would you not consider a AMD Phenom at all then? Intel are by far the best? Ive been on a few Phenoms and they have ran way faster then my build now and are really good, But then again.. I aint been on an i5/i7

The intel chips beat the quad phenoms in most apps and even the hex cores, overclock them and it just gets silly how far ahead they are.
