Basically my current system wont cut it on medieval 2, although i though it would.

but here is my current spec.

x2 3800
2gb corsair
8800gts 640mb
dfi expert sli
600 watt noise taker

here is what i am after from overclockers.

e6600 core 2 duo
dfi 975 motherboard
2 x 512 ddr2 corsair memory

but here is what i am unsure about!

will the upgrade be worth it? Is there a big difference in processor power between the e660 and x2 3800?

Thats what i thought!!!!!! No, its not over clocked, strange eh?

i am limited to 4040 troops, after that severe lag. If i push 5000 troops i get about 10 FPS, and i am not exaggerating!

I have tried everything, i have tried disabling a core, and then tried amd`s optimisation!

Does anyone think it would be worth trying a single core processor?

no , i wasnt having a go at you there.

well someone just told me there

"I have a 3800+ X2 with 2GB of matched RAM and a 7600GT and run this game on Huge unit settings with maximum detail and the best textures, all with little or no problem. Try getting rid of shadows."

Here is what i am thinking of going for

1 X INTEL CORE2DUO E6300 DUAL CORE RETAIL
2 X 512MB TEAM DDR 800 PC6400
1 X GIGABYTE 965P-S3 MOTHERBOARD

how does this compare to what i have?

1 x x2 3800
2 x 1gb corsair ddr 400
1 x dfi expert sli
