My friend needs a new pc as his blew up, it was an old dell tower, but he needs it for his A - Levels.

Due to me being his best friend, and also due to his relationship with his parents being "not good", I am paying for it.

Some of the parts I already own, such as the PSU (EVGA 750 PSU)
and a GPU (Zotac GTX 770), I only need a case, cpu (AMD), motherboard, Hard Drive and RAM and OS for no more than £350.
I was looking at something like an AMD 6300 and a Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3, but not sure what case. Although, I think 8GB RAM will be OK. He just needs web browsing and gaming.

Thanks!

Have a look at the Gigabyte board as this has a heatsink on the VRM's to the cpu and I know the ram wont colour match but go with the Kingston as this is cheaper. Even though the system might not be able to run the ram at those settings it will run at lower speed.

i hope he's paying you back ;p the stuff you're speccing for this rig is worth >£500

Looks good to me but personally I'd go for RJC's Intel spec because you also have the option to upgrade to an overclockable i5 or i7 later on :)

except, unfortunately, that spec is without an OS and already overbudget lol.

OP, have you considered a non-oc intel i5 spec?
eg:
YOUR BASKET
1 x Asus H81M-K Intel Core i5 DIY Micro ATX Motherboard, CPU & RAM Bundle £224.98
1 x Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-Bit DVD - OEM (WN7-00614) £77.99
1 x Toshiba (7K1000.D) 500GB SATA 6GB/s 32MB Cache - OEM (DT01ACA050) HDD £34.99
1 x Raijintek Arcadia Mid Tower USB 3.0 Case - Black £24.95
Total : £377.00 (includes shipping : £11.75).

He won't pay me back, I won't let him. :D

As for an non overclockable i5 system, that is an option. I will look into it!

Thanks guys.
