Hi all,
My PC arrived earlier today and I am in a bit of a dilemma, I have never built a PC before and I am a bit wary about doing so due to static problems etc. I know someone who will do it for me but it means me waiting until maybe Tuesday to get it back and I am not sure I want to wait that long.
A few questions I have, as I don't have any anti-static mats or a anti-static wrist band, what is the best way to be careful? I know the guide on here says to put in the power supply, plug it into the wall and keep contact with the metal, does this mean close proximity or constantly touching it? Also what are the parts that I need to be careful with due to static etc? Motherboard, CPU, GPU and hardrive I know off.
I have watched a few videos on how to do it and one person mentioned regarding putting places in place on the base of your tower for the motherboard to put into, and he said to put a piece of paper under the board and draw in the spaces it needs to fit etc. Finally, what is the best practice to use with the Motherboard? how do I go about making sure no static gets into contact with it? Build it on top of the box it came in?
Cheers in advance
