Currently I own a laptop which just isn't enough for me as far as specs go. I'm looking to build a new PC, having never built one before, but am interested in doing so. I've researched the parts and read these forums for quite a bit to see if I can look out for good deals and good quality parts.

I want the computer to be good for gaming, such as GTA4, Left4Dead, and new games which may come out in the next few years. I also want it to be good for video editing and music production. Also want it to last a while and be future proof.

I have £700 so far to spend, but I can wait longer to save more cash if need be. If anyone can help me build a PC list of parts, I would prefer an Intel CPU since I know a bit more about the motherboards and ram, and also a nvidia graphics card since they seem better for cost/cooling/performance atm.

So far this is my absolute ideal spec, but costs quite a lot.

I don't know if I will end up buying an overclocked bundle or not yet, but it's there to save image space.

I want the power supply to be modular, but not sure if 750W is enough or too much? I don't know if I'm going to do SLI yet. I want the power supply to be future proof though. Do I need the 850W or 1000W prehaps?

Also should I get that monitor because I can get an Acer 22" for just over £100 so not sure what to do about that but I do want a 22" monitor.

I've read good reviews about the case, hard drive, graphics card and keyboard so I think I will stick with them.

Don't know much about the speakers though so do I need better ones, like I said I will be doing music production aswell as games/movies. Also do I need to buy a seperate sound card or will there be a good one with the motherboard?

Thats all I can think of asking atm, cheers anyone who can help.;)

Thats an excellent spec
750W will be fine, and will still allow you to add a 2nd card later if needs be
Dont know about the speakers myself though, the onboard sound is enough for mosr peoples need,s but if you are going to be doing music production then you may want better, Id say listen to it first and see. Everything else youve chosen looks spot on, the Western Digital Caviar Black is a little bit faster than teh sammy, but the sammy is still v good (have to try n find something ;) )
How are you planning on purchasing this? Have you already got a PC and youre going to buy upgrades as you can afford? Or are you going to wait til you can buy it all in one? If so how long do you reckon it will take to save up the rest? Any more than a couple of months and the spec could well change

I will buy this at the latest when Windows 7 is released (October sometime). I should be able to save the money before then and just get the RC while I wait.

Glad the 750W will be ok because I was considering an 850W aswell.

I'll consider the Western Digital hard drive and compaire it to the Samsung with reviews on google.

I only have a laptop currently so I need to buy it all at once.

Also, is this spec compatible with the i9 coming out next year and also a GTX 300 series card or the ATI 5000 series with the motherboard and power supply?
