Building a PC

Ok, so i dont know much about pc's at all, i can only just put in the GPU and RAM, thats about all!

Im just wondering if any of you have got any helpful pointers or a useful guide listed somewhere on the internet.

I googled them but a lot seem old and extremely hard to understand.

If all else fails my friend could build it but i would like 2 give it a go

also ive ordered this PSU;

Coolermaster iGreen 600W PSU ATX Form Factor 12V V2.2 / SSI standard EPS 12V V2.91

What do you guys think about it?

It is pretty self explanatory. Each part comes with installation instructions, and the motherboard manual should tell you where everything goes. Give it a go, the hardest things are (a) choosing the right parts in the first place and (b) diagnosing any problems, and the forums are here for both!

Do you want a system spec for a budget, or do you have the kit already?

nah ive ordered everything already m8, my main problem tbh will be the fact that ive ordered 2 HD'S.

Fitting 1 is bad enough, where do i put the 2nd! :eek:

The most difficult thing is probably Seating the motherboard in the case and the cpu in the motherboard. You've got to line up the correct holes and put spacers in before mounting the motherboard.

Cpu's sometimes require thermal paste which is used to create a bond between the cpu and the heatsink, some heat sinks come with it under a peice of film, some dont, requiring you to buy some and fit it yourself which isnt easy and can be dangerous if you get it wrong. someone more experienced maybe able to tell you how.

My best tip would be if possible to mount the PSU FIRST then plug it into the wall, this will earth the case and prevent any static damage.

With this situation you connect one hardrive into the motherboard and have it set to master, then you connect the second hardrive into the first and make it a slave.

Please correct me if im worng guys, but yeah it should say how to set them as master and slave in the instructions.

That's correct. If they are IDE, the jumpers will be on the Hard Drive next to the power and data cables. SATA drives do it through the BIOS.
