Hi fellas,

Am currently looking to build a computer in the next few weeks, however I am having slight trouble sticking to my budget :p

My aim - To build a slick, rapid machine with no load times while navigating through Windows and run Football Manager 2013 with 20+ leagues loaded with no slow processing, also for the 3D match engine to run as smoothly as it can.

I'm not much of a PC gamer myself, so a 'BEAST' of a machine is not essential. I also don't think I'll be overclocking the PC (silly forum to come to I know :p), I'll most likely have a processor which cannot be overclocked anyway.

What I currently have in mind is;

Case - CM Storm Enforcer (Might go with Zalman Z11 Plus to cut the price by a few quid..)
CPU - Intel Core i5 3470 (Reccomend going up to 3570 or is there not much difference?)
Motherboard - Asus P8B75-M LX
RAM - 8GB Corsair 1600mhz Vengeance (2x4GB)
SSD - 120GB SSD S-ATAII 3.0Gb/s (Sandisk)
Hard Drive - 500GB S-ATAIII 6.0Gb/s
CD Drive - 22x DVD±RW DL S-ATA
Graphics - NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 2GB
Wireless Internet - Wireless 802.11N 150Mbps MIMO PCI-E card
Monitor - LG 21.5" E2242C-BN LED
PSU - 600W Corsair CX (May go down to 500/550)

I'm a bit of a 'noob' when it comes to Hardware, software is my strongest side. This will be my first time building a PC.

Welcome to suggestions, especially those who play FM. :D

I want to try and stick to my budget of £600-650

Hi.

Please remove all mentions of competitors and their prices from your post.

No promotion of OcUK's competitors

We, Overclockers UK (OcUK) are happy to provide the resources of these forums to responsible individuals without charge. They cost a substantial amount of money to maintain and use considerable amounts of bandwidth which is paid for exclusively by us. As you know OcUK are in the computer hardware business and therefore the promotion of OcUK's competitors is forbidden. Examples of promotion are :-

  • Posting links to competitors websites
  • Posting links to reviews that promote competitors
  • Quoting the names or contact details of competitors
  • Offering to provide the names or contact details of competitors
  • Hinting about product availability at competitors and their pricing
  • Using the forums to notify a member of intent or actual supply of names or contact details of competitors
  • Listing competitors names, URL's or e-mail addresses in signatures
  • Listing competitors names, URL's or e-mail addresses in profile
  • Posting links to or the mentioning of auction sites
  • Disguising attempts to do any of the above

if you have a look here you can see the benchmarks for last years game, not seen anything for the 2013 version but its gonna be similar.

divide the times by 117 and feed in your chosen number of leagues and you should get an idea of whats worth the money.

The Ivy chips perform a little better than sand clock for clock across the range so look for the sandy equivilant.
