Building a pulse Jet

What the Easyest and best way to do this?:)

Might have plans in the futre for a Pulse jet powerd RC plane if its not too difficult:D
 
For a split second i thought you were telling us you wanted something like 'Easyjet' had built! :o

I was actually really interested in ram jets for awhile but there is no way you could get an RC Jet off the ground with one. And if you did you would have to be flying at above mach 0.6 and no RC jet could handle that at this day and age:p

Pulse Jets seem the best solution to this:D

I dont think a V1 is what i would be making unless someone anoyed me too much :p
 
Arnt most RC Jet Planes powered by pulse jets?

Either way, most are illegal over here afaik.. sound legislation and all that for anywhere thats not permitted.. :rolleyes:

It's ok though, Zip is in Upside-Down Land and they've got lots of open space to be mucking about killing yourself in - as if the natural environment isn't trying hard enough to do you in.

I think Jonny69 might be your best bet as he has already built one while at university if memory serves. It might be worth slinging an email his way. :)

Thats right!

I have a Big lake im planning on flying it over so if things go pear shape it can be sent into the lake:p

Im not sure if its legal or not but there are plenty of places far away from anyone and anything where no one will see it

I think Jonny69 might be your best bet as he has already built one while at university if memory serves. It might be worth slinging an email his way. :)

From what i remember he has one of a scooter or skateboard so now i just have to wait for him to come along:D
 
Pulsejets are easy enough to make and get running but to get one to fly needs to be very very light and it needs to develop maximum power. The bigger the jet the easier it is to get running so what I'd probably recommend is do what I did and that's make a big one out of exhaust tubing and sheet steel and use it as a test bed run on propane gas, then make a smaller one out of thin stainless with a lightweight intake. You can make valveless pulsejets, easier to make than a valved one, but I don't think anyone has had one fly.

I actually spoke to someone at the weekend about the legalities of flying and it's mainly a noise thing because the drone carries a long way. Plus they are out of fashion since turbines have dropped in price.

Impressive toys though. Make one anyway, even if you just stick it on a pair of rollerskates screwed together.

Horrible layout on that forum though, awful to use but a wealth of information. Shame also a lot of the really good guys aren't on there any more. There was a huge bust up and everyone left. I don't post on there any more because I got fed up with the bitching :D
