so i'm building a website for my girlfriends dad. silly me. i played about a bit with websites along time ago and thought it would all come flooding back and be easy as pie as time has moved on. i am how ever a wee bit stumped.

first off hosting and everything is sorted. hes using 1&1. i had a look at there website builder programs but there a bloody annoyance as you cant really edit anything to what you want.

did a wee bit more of research and found wordpress. thought that would cover my bases but it doesnt. again i found it not too customisable. i know what i want the website to look like and have designed it all out in illustrator. i thought once upon a time you used to be able to carve up an image in dreamweaver and place appropriate links and such.

basically what is the easyiest way im going to do this. just sit down and learn how to make it over the weekend ?

also one other thing. i would like if they were able to log in to it an adjust news items and such so i wouldn't have to re write the page every time they wanted something different. any advice ? :)

WordPress not customisable? Come again? I think you'll find it's more your lack of knowledge.

Read up on creating a "theme" from scratch and you'll be able to slot in your HTML you've created from your design.

If u want them to be able to make simple changes then you want a cms like joomla or wordpress
They are so customisable it's unreal you just need to spend some time working it all out
