I have already spent threee and a haklf hours putting my first build together and have actually got the motherboard, CPU, cooling system, memory, video card and power source connected. Tried a test boot and it all seems to be working except that my video card will not display using the HDMI connection, An analog connection to the motherboard itself will work. Am I missing something or might the card be faulty? Please note that I got stuck for ten minutes because I forgot to turn the off/on switch on the back of the PSU so do not discount simplistic solutions. Most of my time so far has been spent trying to affix the Tranquillo CPU cooler which will probably take me 10-15 minutes next time.

I am following the Newegg instructional videos fairly closely. The fans on the videocard are rotating so that indicates that power is getting to the card. The HDMI cable works between my monitor and my laptop which suggests the cable and the Monitor are fine.

I have plugged in two PCIE plugs to the videocard as well as one in the sockets provided

Ok, I have plugged in both male and female sockets and now have an HDMI connection. There are three plugs on the power supply cable but I only need two - perhaps the extra one is for other configurations. Relief - but no doubt will be back later with more asinine queries!

The GTX570 needed two 6pin connectors, the PSU has a hardwired 6pin and a 6+2pin on it, the 6+2pin make an 8pin for more powerful cards.

The other cable that gives the other 6pin pin and 6+2pin for a second card is in the box.
