Hi Guys,

Im going to build an ultimate gaming machine. My current spec is as my sig states.

I will keep my graphics card unless anyone else can say anything better, i have my mouse and keyboard and 24" monitor.

Just need a complete new base.... Was looking at the i7 bundles and i5 bundles but would like you guys to spec and price or me rom OcUK.

Money is irrelavent at the mo...

Thanks,

Shep.

You have a Q6600 at 3.4GHZ and a GTX295 - that is fine set of components for gaming at 1920X1200.

If you really feel the need to upgrade get an HD5970.

TBH i see no point in upgrading, the GTX295 can play any game out at the moment on a 24" 1920x1200 screen. the only thing i can see that you could upgrade is going to windows7 and/or changing to a SSD but both would not give you much difference with your current harddrives

Go for i5 then.

Sell the 295 whilst it's worth something :) I imagine a plummet in price with Fermi on the horizon.

You could get a 5870 not as powerful but better in every other way
A 5970 - more powerful but with a cost to match
A 5770 - a "tide me over" card to wait for Fermi

What will you be using it for, are you a video editor? Also, could you give me a bit of an idea of the budget, because I can probably spec you a 2K upgrade!!

what i would do: sell the gtx 295, get a new rig with i7+5870+ssd etc and then buy another 5870 for crossfire later.

the build i would get at the moment if money was no option but not going over the top for it.

put the apaches on the h-50 to have a good heatsink.
PSU will be able to power anything with easr and corsair is a good brand.
The motherboard is the newist ones out and has USB3 and SATA3 if you feal the need to upgrade in the future.
The gpu can run anygame and is xfire again for a later time if you need the upgrade.
SSd for OS, 500gb for games and 1tb for media.
