I started playing guitar about 4 years ago in school when i was about 15/16 and played for 2-3 years straight then the last 1-2 years have been well ... playing twice a month if that due to work etc.

What kind of crushed me from continuing playing was that my idol was so 'incredible' at what they do that i'd never come close and kind of stopped all confidence i had.

But now i really want to take a crack at it again, im still pretty nifty on the guitar and know all the basics and harmonics, even pull off's and hammer on's and all that jazz.

Whats the best way you guys recommend that i could get back into this as i still feel pretty beaten down by it all. my main problem is i dont have patience, i spend an hour or two and give up.

Advice is needed! thanks :)

Motivation has to come from inside yourself, not from us.

Why did you start playing in the first place? Concentrate on that and perhaps you'll remember that it's worth putting the hours in when you nail it just right and really feel in control.

As cheesy as it sounds - Be your own player. Who cares what someone else does. If you enjoy the music you're making, who is anyone else to tell you it's "wrong".

Women.......... tends to be most of the motivation behind playing guitar. I took up guitar to impress a girl........ and it worked :)

As has been said, if you don't have the motivation then you won't get anywhere.
