I've been thinking about building a pc for fun as opposed to profit. When you do builds what do you do with them afterwards? sell them? Do you think you could build a pc then just sell it for what it actually costs to recoup the money?

Also what do you do about software, i.e. Windows? When you do a build to sell on do you also buy Windows and install that, or just sell it without an OS?

People who build for fun, what do you do after it's built?

Thanks

I would say that unless you are doing it for someone you know it isn't worth the hassle, you will always make a loss and you just open yourself to all kind of trouble with warranty etc.

Some people get enjoyment from building a themed system and trying new combos. They use them for a bit and want to try something else. From my observations they usually sell the parts at a loss (depending how much you value the actual enjoyment) to fund their new build.

These people usually have a larger amount of disposable income than some of us (well me anyway :p).

Quite often the people who are building for fun are sponsored, have a review to do or both. Building and reviewing parts is quite common to get into sponsorship, as companies will only sponsor when they know that you have a good review history.

If people aren't sponsored, they likely do have someone to build for or do, as dcsarge said, have a larger amount of disposable income than the rest of us
