Hey guys,I am about to buy the following:

I7 4790k
GTX 970 (maybe 980) : might buy second card in few months
H100 cooler
16GB corsair vengeance gaming Ram
256 SSD
4TB HD

The Motherboards i have been offered are the ASUS Maximus Ranger board,is this a decent board to start building a high end gaming machine and maybe future proof if for another 3-4 years?

Is there any other options i should look into?

Anything else i should add to basket?

thank you

i dont have much knowledge in Motherboards, still trying to learn from reading up.

is the board:

Gigabyte Z97X-UD5H-BK Black Edition Intel Z97

above worthy of the purchase or should i go out and buy the wifi edition at over £300?

The motherboard is the only part of the Pc im having trouble buying, i usually buy a new PC every 3-4 years, but this time im building my own...so im looking to run most games at Ultra (bf4) and maybe even some games in 4K when they are out..

I was told to go with the ASUS maximum IV boards as stated, but also heard the gigabyte boards are superior.

thanks for any more suggestions.

Do you want WiFi+Bluetooth built-in?

Is excellent onboard sound really important to you?

I think the cheaper Z97X-UD3H-BK may offer ll you need to be honest.

thank you man, really appreciate it...no wifi and Bt doesnt interest me tbh...

i just wanted the ability to run the processor and Sli gfx cards
