Hi Guys going to build me a gaming rig
i built my first one many years ago and has served me well but its time for an upgrade
its been a while and was wondering if i could get people opinions on what's decent with the prices that are now crazy
i have only brought the case so far which is

it will be a 5080 card im getting

I'd start by looking at B850, unless they don't meet your needs in terms of: USB ports, M.2 slots, SATA ports, etc. If you want USB4, that's going to need X870/X870E, since only a few B850 boards have this. Note that USB4 can introduce lane sharing issues with PCI-E slots/M.2.

There's a large selection of white motherboards, so there's no need to pay much extra for one. Since the RAM slots and power connectors are black on most boards, you may want to stay with black RAM and a black PSU, since availability can be harder with those parts. I would not want to pay an extra £100+, for example.

The RAM and PSU below is in stock at time of posting, the boards are not.

If you want something higher-end then we'll need an idea of the budget.

The 9800X3D is only £35 more expensive at the moment, might be worth it depending on how your budget is holding up.
