Hi all, wonder if someone can advise me please :)

Currently have a Popcorn Hour A110 for movie duties but also have a P4 & MATX Mobo (with 1GB Mem) sitting in a drawer doing nothing. I think I'd like the flexibility of a full HTPC (using Win7 or similar) to go with my shiny new 46"/50" TV (have yet to decide which). Was going to go for the Asrock Ion Nettop but have seen the Antec Micro Fusion Remote VERIS Media Center Case - With 350W PSU and Media Remote Control for a good price so it's tempting.

Now I know the cpu (with integrated Intel gfx) won't be enough to power 1080p, but will adding a half-decent gfx card like the Gigabyte 4350 be enough to power me along when watching FullHD movies (say via MPC-HC)?

Am guessing it will be am just after confirmation really.

cheers

Si

Grab an nVidia 9400, better than ATi and you can also use CUDA with CoreAVC which works a lot better than DXVA which other codecs use to offload the decode.

Shop around for a passive one if you can, they don't need fan cooling.

CoreAVC is a decoder so you still need a player (MPC-HC is ideal). DXVA is really finicky and doesn't work with all files, restricts you to certain renderers and you can't add in ffdshow for extra tuning. nVidia's implementation is much better than ATi's and plays a lot more files but it's still DXVA. CoreAVC using CUDA will decode anything without restricting you in any way.
