Hey all,

I just realized that I put this in the wrong part of the forums so I just put it up here... oops.

I'm wanting to build a new system in April and im aiming towards spending around £650-700 I will point out that I already have a PSU (850W), case, Keyborad, mouse, speakers, hard drives, optical drives and monitor.

So what I am looking for is:

Motherboard
CPU
RAM
Graphics Card (must have 2x 6pin power due to PSU)

What I will be using it for:

Gaming (online and offline)
Map Making (Various)
3D Modeling (ZBrush)
Programming (C/C++, Java, Unreal Script)

I was thinking of going with SandyBridge but im not sure about it now from the issues I have been seeing with the SATAII ports (I got 4x 1TB WD Caviar Black SATAII to go into the new build). I've heard the z68's are coming out but will that be worth waiting for or should I go with 1366?

Any suggestions are welcome.

I'd wait until April then.

You don't have to buy a GPU with 6 pin connectors. (you can leave them disconnected and it will still work.)

Yup, wait till end of March \ April time then. The new SandyBridge motherboards will be out and there maybe some more info on what Bulldozer will bring us.

I'm pretty sure that the 6950 uses 2 x 6 pin power connectors, not sure waht the 560 uses mind as that would be another one to consider.

pretty sure the 560 also uses 2 x 6

so the new SB mobos will be released at the end of march? Anyone know what kind of specs they will be?

As far I know the Nvidia cards the 560 & 570 has 2x 6pin but the 580 as 1 6pin and 1 8pin.

Im lookin at going with Intel & Nvidia due to the things I plan on using the system for so I just need to come up with the best parts I can with the money I have.

Thank you for your input thus far.

The time is very close now, I plan to be building my new system within 2 weeks. So far the parts I have found are:

i5 2500k
Sabertooth P67 B3
8GB (2x4GB) Corsair Vengence 1866MHz
Palit GTX 560 Ti 2GB

Any suggestions on any cheaper and better parts?
