Hi guys,

OK, so after building my new machine, (which happened to be my first new machine in 9 years!) I have decided I want to try and recycle my old NAS (a single HDD NAS on the desktop) and my old PC (spec below):

Alienware ALX Case (Purple with red lighting)
Intel Pentium D (Dual Core) CPU - 3.00GHz
2GB DDR2-SDRAM System Memory
ASUS P5ND2-SLI Motherboard
nVidia GeForce 9400GT Graphics Card
2 x Hitachi 164GB Hard Drives (Suitable for RAID striping if you need that)
NEC DVD-RW ND-3540A Optical Drive
Creative SB Audigy 4 Sound Card

It's quite old, as you can see!

So basically, what I'm thinking of doing is stripping the PC down to components, removing the soundcard (no need on a file server) and putting all the components into a smaller case.

What I'm wondering is what case should I go for? I'm looking for a case that is suitably sized (smaller than a MIDtower would be good) and is quiet with fans.

Can anyone help me?

Hmmm, interesting. Just read the review on Bit-Tech and it does seem to be a very good case. Shame OCUK don't stock it :(

All spends on how many hard drives you want to fit. But for a basic file server for upto 4 disks or so, the Antec 300 is a good choice.
