Hi, I’m pretty New to PC. And switching over from console. I’m looking for a PC that can run modern and old games with lots of mods. I plan to use a lot of mods in games like RDR2, GTA, Skyrim, Minecraft and other popular modded games probably and I’m gonna be playing a lot of games and buy new ones potentially AAA titles. I plan to use the computer for gaming mostly.

I plan to buy the parts on 14th November.

I wanted to check if the parts I picked out were a good enough build. My budget is around £1700 - £1900.

I haven’t picked out a keyboard and mouse yet and I’ve chosen an AOC 1440p 27” monitor but I might want an MSI 4k one.

My PC Parts are:

- AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.7 GHz 8-Core Processor
- Noctua NH-U14S 82.52 CFM CPU Cooler
- Asus ROG STRIX B650E-F GAMING WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard
- G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory
- Western Digital WD_Black SN850X 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
- PowerColor Reaper Radeon RX 9070 16 GB Video Card
- Fractal Design Epoch RGB ATX Mid Tower Case
- be quiet! Pure Power 12 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply

I’m flexible to changing the case. But that all come to around £1818 and all of the parts are from the Overclockers site.

There’s also another build that was reccomend for me that the user said has better 15% gaming performance than the build above but all the parts were from different sites.

2nd PC Build suggestion:

AMD Ryzen 5 9600X 3.9 GHz 6-Core Processor

Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler

Asus TUF GAMING B650-PLUS ATX AM5 Motherboard

Klevv BOLT V 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6400 CL30 Memory

Western Digital WD Blue SN5000 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive

Sapphire PULSE Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB Video Card

Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower Case

Montech CENTURY II 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

MSI MPG 272URX QD-OLED 27.0" 3840 x 2160 240 Hz Monitor

This build comes to £1730 but could go up.

Was wondering which build would be better for me. And if I should change anything. You can add keyboard and mouse too btw. Thank you!

Is complicated to answer that, the answer won't always be the same, because it varies based on game and resolution/settings.

Personally, I'd be happier with the 9800X3D and 9070 because the 9070 is still plenty powerful and you'll have a good balance there, though if 4K was a certainty I might change my choice.

That said, with the budget that you have, I think it'd be a mistake to buy a 9600X, unless you were planning to upgrade that CPU to the 10800X3D (or whatever it is called by then).

I'd opt for something more akin to this for your budget, some of your choices are a little bit iffy such as last gen motherboards etc. It's M-ATX as that's a preference of mine, but you could do a standard midi-tower for roughly the same money.

Included a monitor and mouse, both are very good options for the prices they're at right now, I've not listed a keyboard as I find them very much down to personal taste, you might have a hard preference for switch types that I don't.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,688.82 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Also, I ended up reading guides about optimizing setups and even discovered sites like https://magicreels-casinos.co.uk/ where you can check detailed platform reviews and bonuses—they’re surprisingly informative for understanding gaming performance and deposit options. For keyboard/mouse, a mechanical keyboard and high-DPI mouse always helped me for both fast response and comfort.

Between your two builds, the first one with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is more future-proof for heavily modded games like Skyrim and RDR2, especially with 32 GB DDR5 RAM and the RX 9070—it’ll handle mods and AAA titles without bottlenecking. The second build is slightly cheaper and has a 4K MSI monitor, which is great if you want high-res visuals, but the Ryzen 5 and slightly lower SSD speed might hold back some intensive mod setups.

Be interesting to know what you went with, that's if you went with anything yet?

Just added your 9800X3d build to the basket and it comes to just shy of £2,343.
