Hi Guys,

My cpu has been overheating a bit lately, so i figured its a good time to build a watercooled rig.

Take a look at what im going to order and let me know what you think. Also need some advice on which connectors to buy?

** No competitor pricing please **

You're only doing a 240 rad.. why not just get the AIO 240 one from corsair... if you don't plan on doing more than that, otherwise .... yeah wc is the way to go.

the hassle of a full custom loop is that you have to do regular maintenance.
no to mention that it costs more
(although it cools better ;p)

if you're just after a cpu cooler. just get a maintenance-free AIO cooler instead.
saves you time, money, hassle

What is this regular maintenance you speak of?

I wouldn't buy that reservoir, get the black matt instead.
I bought 2 black nickel before and they had a problem with the nickel plating, it would not seal properly so it would leak, since the black matt is painted it doesn't have the problem.

Also I would avoid buying from where you checked this, I know which shop it is, if you have problem with one of the items your RMA will be a nightmare.

I performed the first 'regular maintanence' of my loop after 1 month installed

'Took off side panel, looked at res, fluid level same level as before, look below res,no leaking,Job done' :D

I've been looking at getting the 250ml variant of this res, and you've helped me decide against the black nickel. Thanks.

The custom loop maintenance thing really is vastly over-stated.

Regular maintenance is really only needed if you're tinkering or adding/removing stuff.

Once a loop is done, it's done. A check of the water levels and a visual inspection for any liquid at joints if the levels have changed is all that's necessary.

If you go for the matt black is ok, I have it. I bought the 150ml version but I bought an extra 250ml tube. At the moment I'm using the 250ml tube.

Thanks for the input guys. I actually went for a Corsair h100i in the end as an interim solution. I'm still planning a custom loop, but its not something I want to rush. I've moved my rig into a Corsair OBSIDIAN 750D Case in preparation for a cooling loop. This case gives me a lot more space!
