Ello people,
i've decided to build my girlfreind a PC, but i plan to use the my current CPU and graphics card in her new build and buy new ones to go in my own PC.

I currently have -
Athlon 64 Winchester 3200+ CPU along with an ATI X800XL

I'm fairly happy with the performance at the moment, but i'm in two minds about how much to spend on the upgrade... should i go for an X1900XT + Athlon Dual Core 4400+ combo, or go for the cheaper Athlon 4000+ San Diego + X1800 GTO Turbo

(in case you're wondering, i have a DFI NF4 mobo, 4x512 geil value ram, tagan 480w psu)
My new 20" Samsung should be arriving in a few days.

What sort of difference would i see between my current set-up/the cheaper option/expensive option.

Any advice on what to get would be much appreciated :)

What sort of budget do you have here? There are a lot of possible permutations you could go with but it depends how much you are willing to spend. Another option for example would be to take advantage of the fact that the X2 3800 has had a price drop, get a good cooler and an X1800XT, comes inbetween the two options but should be able to clock to not too far behind the X2 4400 and X1900XT combo.

Thanks for the reply, just been checking out your suggestion and i've decided to go ahead and order.... the X1800XT seems a great deal for just over £150.

Before i place my order I have a quick question... Will my current cpu cooler (arctic freezer 64) be compatible with my new X2 cpu?
