Im Looking around the shop thinking what to get for my new computer i could probably do it by myself but i wouldnt get the "best buys" as people would say it so im going to ask for some help,
would like it to run the newest games including some years to follow maybe dx11 if it makes much difference as i will be running 7.
case isnt neccesary neither will be the O/S, screen, everything else tho..

budget of around £700.

thanks.

A bit over budget but how about:

Others will probably have better advice on the graphics card. I am not really an expert.

I have assumed that you will be overclocking. The x4 955 should get to around 3.8GHz or more.

If you cant stretch the budget that far then I would go for an x4 athlon cpu. It will be harder to overclock though.

the case inst neccasary and i dont know wiether that gfx is a bit much maybe a 5770 i heard they were good ? anyone else got any suggestions,

thanks anyways

Yes a 5770 is also a good card and will save you lots of money :)

If I were you I would go for the 5770 and spend the money saved on an SSD boot disk.

As for getting 4GHz out of the 955. Yes it is possible on some chips. I think you have to be quite lucky though. 3.8GHz would be a more reasonable aim. But remember that the gaming performance will be almost entirely driven by the graphics. I am pretty sure you would notice no difference between 3.8 and 4 GHz in real life gaming.

Hmm, Id say a SSD as a boot drive is pointless - unless you want to boot in around 30 secs - which ofc makes bugger all difference.

Id also stick with the HD5850 - as you want the system for longevity, and the 5850 will last for ages and should still run games 2 -3 years in the future on at least medium.

1st basket minus the case looks very good to me :)
