I currently have an AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition CPU sitting on my desk doing nothing.

I have been doing a lot of research and this is what I might build:

CPU - AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition

Motherboard - Asus M3A78-T AMD 790GX (Socket AM2+) PCI-Express DDR2

Case and PSU - Antec 300 Gaming Case and Antec Basiq Plus 550W Modular

Hard Drive - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (ST3250410AS)

CD/DVD - Asus DRW-22B1LT 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer (Black/Silver)

I have an Nvidia 9600GSO graphics card 764MB, and 2GB of DDR2 RAM.

I need the computer to handle heavy music software, a lot of writing to CDs, quick internet access, fairly decent graphics programs for editing photos and simple tasks such as using microsoft office software to create various documents and of course gaming, (mainly train simulations).

Are all of my components that I have listed compatible with each other.

My OS will be probably be Windows XP 32-bit.

How noisy would this computer be, would I need any extra fans straight away.

I would be very grateful for any replies.

Thank You Very Much

Hi
I wouldn't bother with a Seagate hard drive, there's been a lot of problems with them lately, go for Samsung or WD, also you might consider going for Vista 64 bit instead of XP 32 bit in case you ever need to add more memory in the future. I've just built a system with the PhenomII 940 and used the Asus M3A79T Deluxe motherboard and couldn't be happier with it.

OK.

My new choice for a hard drive is the Western Digital Caviar Blue 320GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (WD3200AAKS).

I was going to upgrade to Vista but my uncle works in the software side of ICT and recommends XP and then go to Windows 7 when it is released. What is the differnece between 32 and 64 bit?

I've just seen on the Asus M3A78-T AMD 790GX (Socket AM2+) PCI-Express DDR2 page that it's only compatible with Windows Vista. Does this mean that I will have to install Vista.

Also can anyone recommend a wireless keyboard. I currently have a Microsoft Wireless mouse.

Thanks Again

32 bit will only see 3GB of memory, where as 64 bit will see the max amount that you have installed. So if you are thinking of putting more than 3GB in your PC, 64 bit is the way forward.
