Building my own speaker cabinets and choosing components.

Hi,

Kinda playing with the idea of building my own cabinets and setting it up.

Aside from big bits of wood , what else would I need?

I had a look on the bay, and there are components for different manufacturers like Mission and Wharfedale.

I figured;
Some sort of tweeter
A mid-range Woofer.
And a slightly larger woofer for underneath.


Now, I am running it off a Denon PMA-320.
It only has 60W per channel. It has four channels, but I would prefer to run it off two.

A or B Speakers - 6-16 ohms.
A and B Speakers - 12-16 ohms.

I heard I need a crossover? What is it for?

Am I swimming in dangerous waters or on a winner?
I'm slightly on a budget, this is why I decided on building my own.

Ill read up a bit more then before I make a decision.

Anyways, I have uno question.

If we have two speakers, speaker A and speaker B.

Each have a RMS of 100W

After being connected to the crossover, what is the actual load on the Amp?

Are they simply added together to make 200w? Or is the load split between them due to different frequencies being split? Making the load 100w?

Yup,

Do you know what, I am absolutely confusing myself. I reckon I will just buy a couple of floorstanders and be done with it

Anyone got any reccomondations? Sub 150 ideally.
Was looking at the Kef Cresta 30's and the Wharfedale Zaldek 1000
