Hi,

I'm putting together my new PC, and I'm a bit confused. Its been a long time since I've built a system, 5 years in fact, but I know the basics of SATA, what is confusing me, is the JMICRON Raid?

The manual is confusing, I want to use RAID 0, I've got two SATA drives, and all the cables.

It is a P5B ASUS Deluxe, and it has 6 SATA connectors, four red, 2 black, and then it has on the other side of the board, a black SATA labelled RAID and the manual says plug a SATA cable into this to use the AHCI RAID..

But this is only one SATA port. Do I connect the first drive to this, then use any of the other six SATA ports, or just use a red and black one from the cluster of six?

Sorry to ask, the rest is now built, it was pretty easy, its just this, I'm confused, and want to get it right before I power it one..

One last item, I purchased a ANTEC Gaming nine hundred, get a lot of good reviews, but it has no speaker for the internal beeping, BIOS codes etc, and also, can I not connect the fans to the cha FAN connectors on the board?

The ASUS manual stated to connect the CHA FAN 1 fan if installing a Dual core CPU, in which I am. But I've only got one FAN connector I can connect, the CPU fan, the rest are all case fans, without the motherboard connector??

Thanks..

It's OK lads...

i've worked it out I was being a bit of a plank. The RAID I was looking at is a SATA port to enable the external RAID, the Intel Matrix controller that is the RAID I should be looking at, that uses the 6 standard SATA ports..

Its all built, and I'm currently slipstreaming a Windows XP build with Intel IC8H mass storage drivers, so as I don't need to install a floppy..

Impressive mainbaord, it has loads of great extras, it auto detects everything, so easy to install..

It's so quiet, all those fans in that Antec Gaming case, yet it is whisper quiet compared to my last system, and that had less fans..
