Hey

I've finally got all my parts and the pc shop want a hel of a lot to build it the question is should I build it myself? I already have the mobocracy ram processor on the board in an old case. I need to transfer it to my new lancool add the new card pus heard drive and DVD drive. Is it an easy job for a beginner? I've never done any computer building before and where can I get resources to help me and follow.

Thanks

well if u build like your type your Screwed!!!

I believe you mean, if you build like 'you' type then you're screwed! ;)

I suggest, reading up on some PC Building articles first, then give it a go. It's not hard to transfer components into a new case, you've just got to be careful about it.

Make yourself a mental image or some kind of diagram on where the cables/ connectors, certain wires, panel pinouts and things go as this is usually where beginners go wrong.

...but I agree...mate it's mostly plug in and play...

have a laptop handy to ask but I'd say do it yourself...look up some youtube clips on building and use google :D

Okay fitted my psu/hdd/cd drive.

Ive now got to take my motherboard from the old case and put it into the new case. Any suggestions on what I should do? Simply unscrew, lift and place it into the new case. Should i touch the case before i touch the motherboard to clear static?

Do i also need to use standoffs? I believe the Lancool pc 62 has gold rings aka standoffs already on the case, so im guessing i just need to align the board on it and with the backpanel, then screw them not too hard into position.

Then im guessing all thats left, is to install the Graphics card, and plug everything into the mobo?

Thanks

always clear static before touching any component. Usually by yes, touching your case or a grounded surface.

Yes you need to use standoff's otherwise the rear of the motherboard will be shorted completely on the cases surface.
Sounds like you got it completely right, aslong as you put all the cables in the right places, plug everything in properly and you'll be fine.

... cake :)

I cant get the front panel connectors to stay their easily able to come out when i tilt the pc. Am i connecting them wrong?

Sounds like they're just not clicked in firmly?

As for other stuff - and this applies to anything you do inside your PC case, not just the motherboard - rid your body of any static before touching anything. As a minimum this means touching the metal chassis, though I tend to touch a radiator or mains water pipe frequently as well, to make sure I'm completely discharged. Perfect world, you have a wrist strap with a wire and a crocodile clip fastened onto something that is earthed, but I guess you don't have one.

Make sure you use all the standoffs - the underside of your mother board is peppered with the bottom end of soldered components, and if these touch any conductive surface (ie. the case) then it'll short circuit and possibly die.
