that thread has had it, right i'll stick to building my rig only from now on and i'm bound to ask stupid questions ok... but you can see from my rig photos that i'm genuine.... i'm not trolling you lot.

GREG :-

1.....tell me more about this 4 pin top corner mobo thing please.... it might be easier to give me it's socket number with reference to the mobo handook, rather than trying to describe it :D

2....the audio makes a dreadful noise, it's a green pin into the I/O Socket, but we can sort this out later

no i dont have Win 7.... i only have XP, i wont have Win 7 for some time, no money right now... money has to be spent on TV Bulb for RPTV Sony, this coasts 80 quid.

i have loads of work to do to PC, so i'm ok right now, i need to install fan filtering to the front PC panel inserts and this will be tricky and time consuming

ok thanks, i go home soon and wont be back till tomorrow so dont worry if i dont reply... because i will.

as you say there isn't much to the software that i can do from now on, because yesterday it started defaulting to a ``load OS message`` and it got stuck in a continual loop, the PC is getting fed up with me not uploading the operating system, it wont let me fiddle around with the OC menu anymore like i did on the 1st day

You spent £80 on a bulb for your TV?!?? You could have bought a new TV for £80!!!

yea the RPTV uses a projection bulb for its light source, this wears out every two years.. it's about had it right now, but i wont replace the tv till january.... that bulb is actually quite cheap now, it used to cost 160 quid:eek:

probably because i'm the only guy left in the country that still has a Sony KDS 55A 2000. great tv

but dont worry if you aint around cause i can find that at home, thanks for your help

you have gold coloured capacitors mine are silver !!!!!

it looks dead easy to OC, that's why i chose it

Yep. I have a sticker covering the extra 4 pins...I know where yours came from, so do you think it is a genuine ASrock board?

my mobo came from here, so i hope it's genuine, if not it seems to work ok ...... but it deffo has siver caps only, the packaging etc/ manual looks legit

that plug is already connected on mine, sorry i just didn't recognise it that's all, it goes to the OCZ .

now then.... i removed the front panel, removed the grill inserts and added extra filtering to them, i used black Stocking, so it should be ok now

i've rigged up an external DVD/ ribbon so i'm ready to uploads discs, i'm getting the cheapest version of Win 7, because this is only a gaming rig so i dont want anything fancy.

so what are you going to do about your step up programme Greg... get another 680 or sell it and get two 670s ?????

but the 690 is interesting and takes up far less space...... i say this because i dont think i can get another 7970 in mine, the card is too deep and too close to the next PCI slot.

the 7970 is ok, but due to driver problems i deffo dont trust them in Crossfire.

finally, my 7970 sags at the far end, it's down by about 8mm, it's probably fine but it's annoying to see, the PC board is warping due to the weight hanging off it.

As soon as you have windows installed and stable, we can then go through the OC process but don't jump in untill then and we go through it slow, so as not to break anything :p

ok Greg, this means it'll be at least two weeks away, but this is ok, because i was originally planing on Aug/ sept.... so i'm well ahead of schedule

i will bring PC to this house and we can OC it together, i might even give you my phone number or visa versa; because it might be too complicated to do via here, i want to OC it high and then back it all off slightly for stability

maybe 1.25v.....1240......1840 on the 7970...... my home where i game has no internet, i removed it on purpose, but my other home here does... it's all very complicated, it's like the Adams family around here.

in the meantime i'm still not happy with the two front fans so i might get get twin 90 cfms, i'm always fiddling around with the PC , i'm also very worried about that cooler paste, so the cooler is coming off again tonight.

the cooler paste seems too runny, it's like silver paint, the megahalems grey paste was miles thicker, much harder to spread..... this paste i'm using now is the same stuff that wrecked my last pc, it leaked out like water and ran into the MOBO socket...... maybe i put too much on last time, even so i'm still highly suspicious of it
