Hello Chaps,

I've been gaming, online mostly since 97, but I've never had a decent set-up. I've not even had a PC for a year, as mine all broke and are about 10 years old!

So I have saved about 1500 quid, and promised myself I would take on this project to build the best gaming PC money could buy right now, and for once not be last to load the map on BF2 every single time.

I have a rough ideal of what I want, but as i'm building it with component up, i'm crapping it a bit incase I Xmatch gear and have a few querstions.

What OS is best, 7 or 8? Ive seen 8 and I dont like it, seems patronizing, but will i just have to accept this is the best when it comes to the future?

It seems to be the Chip i'm struggling most with, I think I want an I5 or maybe an I7, but not sure how that impacts the Mobo and Card. I dont think I really need anything overclocked, that word scares me and I think a factory standrad would suffice, and what is the main diff with Haswell and Ivybridge... God the deeper I go... I just dont want to end up buying a Card or Chip to then be told oh my god, why did you do that?! You wanted x or y lol!

I just want to buy all the stuff from one place, from the UK and be able to speak to people if I have problem or advice needed, I dont want to pull gear in from here there and everywhere and endup waiting weeks for it, So I have come here to you guys =)

It would be nice to have a good audio card or something, I plan to play all my music play DVD/WActh films in HD,

I also need to invest in new screen, so budgent is for that too, definatly a big screen, but not so big its hard to game on, maybe 24' im not sure.

I want not to scrimp on PSU or Case and other essential accessories, cables etc. I like quite PCs,

Also do overclockers supply the gear and do build service too? I'm just wondering how much they charge if they do.

Ok thats it, over to you guys who know the answers I hope, Its a lot of money ill spend for me, I want to make sure Im getting a decent Setup.

Also I need, mouse keyboard, gonna buy a new headset too and a new flight stick lol! Still Saitek?

OK, cheers for your help, sorry to babble, I was hoping to buy this and have it done working within 2 weeks

Thanks for your help =) Zoobee:)

Is your budget 13300 or 1500? can you build it yourself, overclockers do build systems.

Hdd a nice one
os 7 or 8, idk
graffy an epic one, GTX brand

Whoa, OK, thats some serious stuff there.

If you never wanted to overclock you could save a little bit on the CPU, but it's worth getting the K version in case you change your mind - mild overclocks are generally just one setting in the BIOS, and are safe, while giving a good increase.

You should build it yourself, just read all the manuals for everything and its ok then. The manual for the mobo teaches you how to put in the cpu, ram, cooler, sata cables, power on cable, graphics card etc. The case manual teaches you how to fit the motherboard, hdd/ssd, fans, psu etc.

As for the build I can make a list of a PC

NZXT H630 Matte Black Ultra Silent ( 120 quid

XFX 650w ( 60 quid

LiteOn IHAS124-04 24x ( 13 quid

Asus Z87-A, Intel Z87 ( 117 quid

16 GB corsair vengance ( 105 quid

Seagate barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB ( 50 quid

Windows 7 or 8 premium ( 60 quid

Asus VS247H-P LED Full HD 23.6" ( 146 quid

Intel CPU i7 4770K (270 quid

3GB Palit GTX 780 ( 515 quid

I make that total 1456

MM thanks for that, wow, that GTX... I'm wondering if to do somthing like spending 100 quid more on a better card, but will someone whos last card was a GTX9800 see the differance? Well, you get what you pay for I guess, I'm happy to spend a little moer on quality products. Appreciates all you guys feedback and advise thanks

I tell you what, I am beginning to think do i REALLY need to spend 1500 bucks? I came into this thinking I would need to spend that, but on reflection I think, for me the power of these machines would be wasted on me lol, I dunnoo, ima keeping monging over stats and stuff some more, Jeeus, building the actual thing will come as releift from trying to decide how to configure it, so many options...Its just a massive candy shop here, i've been drooling on this sight and possibility's.
This is why I will never play XBOX or PS3, this is an art form.

I personally would go for the MSI HD7950 with all the free games. That card is more than enough for 1080p gaming and it's great value. The GTX 780 is overkill for a single monitor and the money can be better used elsewhere.

Maybe instead of getting a better card, you could get a very classy big 27" monitor like Dell S2740L WLED Full HD 27" IPS for 280 quid. That would be a very good for movies also, I have a 24" and I do think that it is abit too small for movies really and I would like 27" next time

Yea but then he pays 84 for OEM windows when he could get full retail for that. I know its an overclockers forum but I`m not goint to BS people when I think a deal is whacky. OEM windows is such a pain because you cant upgrade the main parts of the pc without buying a new windows disk

Components are just listed here for convenience, no suggestion that they're the best prices available (Windows 7 retail is a lot more than £60 btw).

I edited that out before you made your post so what are you on about. Anyway the system I surgested is way way more powerfull than that weak thing you surgested, look at the case, cpu and gpu difference.

You edited your post seconds before I made mine.

Your suggestion is a lot more expensive than mine (your total is wrong), plus a 4770K isn't necessary for a gaming system, and a GTX 780 is overkill for a single monitor.

No its not overkill for a single monitor, when BF4 comes out and your in a 64 player lobby on 1080p with max settings you will wish you had a 780 gtx. Anyway the OP says he was the best GAMING pc money can buy and an i7 + 780 is a lot closer to that than an i5 + 7950
