Hi,

I am wanting to create a new gaming pc build and have a budget at about £2k (can't really go higher than that if I can help it)

Can anyone recommend a good build please?

Be aware that Nvidia are expected to announce their new cards later this month and release them next month.

What resolution and type of games do you play? Do you do anything other than gaming?

Is the 2K for base system only?

1080p is the resolution needed, no need for 4k. Some other gpu stuff like Photoshop and autocad. 2k for the base system so not including things like monitors, keyboards etc.

Do you need WiFi? Are you after RGB/lights at all on the case or components, or a plain sleek looking system?

And do you use Autocad for 2D or 3D work (or both)? What storage needs do you have with your games and moreso work, do you need a large SSD/HDD? Or would a 1TB NVMe SSD suffice, or with a 2-4TB HDD in addition be useful?

What monitor are you using? Is your 1080p display at least high refresh rate? Or will you maybe upgrade to 1440p in future? £2k is pretty overkill for a gaming rig to play @ 1080p! Although you'll also be using it for Photoshop/Autocad work still, so sorta offset by that :p

The 2070S is overkill for 1080p but Autocad would take advantage of it well though if 3D modeling, but would be nice for high refresh rate gaming. It'll also run well if you go 1440p. But on the GPU front still, Nvidia are due to release their next-gen GPUs mid/late next month (September). It'll be their top end model first, then the models below come out usually few months later. So dependant if you want a top-end model, could be worth waiting if you have an existing GPU to put into the below system. If not then the 2070S is still a great GPU anyway especially for your usage.

So this is what I'd go for atm in the current market. Could probably save about £120 if want a less flashy CPU cooler and RAM, but rolled with it if you wanted some RGB as plenty left in the budget, don't need to spend full £2k. Case is obviously down to your personal taste and you might prefer something else. The P400A is just a great all-rounder for airflow/RGB/cable management for the money.

Edit: Also forgot to mention, the 3900X can be had for £60 elsewhere if you shop about. And the same RAM kit/speed can be had for £55 less too. Quite overpriced on OcUK atm for those parts. So that would bring the total cost down to around £1687. :)

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,792.88 (includes shipping: £0.00)
