Hi, people :)

So anyways I've built computers before but it's been a very long time since the last one (was building pentium 4s back in the day) and theres been a lot of technological changes. Today (after reading a lot on the new stuff) I have decided to spec myself a new machine. What do you lot think of the build? I am limited for cash so I will be buying things slowly over the next few weeks and may change the spec. Hopefully I will complete it by middle January :D

Okay the first thing I bought from the list above is a new case, I chose the Corsair C70 because it has a full metal body structure, so more likely to last me several builds over the next 6+ years I hope. I'm gonna use one of my old hard drives with it as I have loads of 1TB drives. The monitor will be a semi-gift from my mother (she's paying half).

So yea I want some opinions on this build spec, I want to know if it's all okay and will the componentes work great together? and for those wondering yes I know the CPU I chose will not overclock I plan on changing that in a few months unless a good deal comes up (perhaps in the January sale).

Have you any room in your budget over what you have put together?

Personally I'd save a bit of money and go for a Gigabyte Z77 mobo which will allow you to over clock, go for a cheaper PSU as that one looks too much for what you need and then put the saving towards an i5-3570k which will last you a while and allows for overclocking.

Only down side to going with my idea is you'll have to shell out for a CPU cooler unless you buy the reatil 3570k and not overclock until a later date?

:)

My budget is about £700 but there are ways to lower it like the monitor which I'm only paying half and the fact that i'm buying 2 to 3 items at a time (when offers are on) instead of a complete build.

I like the Mpower motherboard as it's fully tested to overclock and it gets rid of all legacy sockets and ports, so no VGA connector (cause who uses these now) and PCI ports. And as I'm moving from a very old Soltek build to a new one, anything is pretty much faster. But I want to leave room to upgrade in the future with a faster processor and maybe go SLI hence the PSU I chose.

yay! the C70 and free fans arrived, thanks OcUK people :D
