hello, i need a bit of advice on what to do here, i currently have a dell dimension 8400 but upgraded it with

*Radeon X1800xt
*PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-111D
*corsair DDR2-SDRAM PC2-4300 (266 MHz)
*Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic

however since its not just me who uses this computer i would prefer to build my own computer, so i would take the graphics card and the dvd drive and the sound card out and replace it with the old stuff and use that for my new computer however im not sure what to buy, i looked at this bundle and it looks pretty good

(Intel Core 2 DUO LGA775 E6400 2.13GHz / Gigabyte 965P DS3 / 2GB Corsair XMS2-6400C5 DDR2 Dual Channel )

altho im not sure what power supply to get with that, also i dont know which harddrive to get, the new pc is basically for games, also which is better amd or pentium and ruffly i dont want to sell an arm and leg to fund this so prices around the 500-600ish mark would b fine, any replies are appreciated cheers dom :D

The PSU is on special offer at the moment and is pretty good, the hard drive is good.

good well combined parts in that bundle m8, cant c it going wrong, it also has grt potential for overclocking.

hard drives, no 1 can seem 2 beat or offer anything better the now than the seagate "10" series.

any power supply 550w or over just run that system grt, could go lower but could cause probs in long run,
look @ fsp enermax, seasonic, if was gonna recomend 1 to u would go with The OCZ600w gamestream

thanks guys,

*Radeon X1800xt
*PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-111D

*Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 200GB ST3200820AS SATA-II 8MB Cache
*OCZ GameXStream 600w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Power Supply

total £580

so will this new rig be fully compatible and or is there anything else that could be changed, also what case is best to get for this and what manufacturer is best for a cpu cooler?

cheers semi pro, just one last thing which case should i buy for it all to go in, i have a few old cases lying around however i dont know if they will be suitable for the job, i heard the antec p180 is a great case but is a tad costly, which one would you recomend? :D

If the cases are ATX standard then you can use them, it just depends if you like the looks and they have adequate airflow I suppose.

Cases aren't something I know a huge amount about though there is a sub-forum on here that you could have a check through. Having said that Antec do make good cases, the Super Lanboy is pretty cheap (~£35) and good if you like the looks, the P180 is good but expensive, as for others the Lian Li PC-7 is awesome for the price (~£55) or the Akasa Eclipse 62 is great also but about as expensive as the P180 at £80 and it isn't in stock either.

if i weer you m8 i'd buy the e6300 and over clock it, if you get the after market cooler this shouldnt be a problem. Saves urself £30 which you could spend on xms2 with cas 4 latency over cas 5. The e6300 will easily over clock to 2.8 ghz.

ok thanks guys, i think ill go with the e6300, as its cheaper and the memory has lower latency, so heres my final rig,

*LianLiPC7PLUSSilverAluminiumMiditowercase £056.34
*Intel Core 2 DUO LGA775 E6300 1.86GHz Retail / Gigabyte 965P DS3 / 1GB GeIL PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Kit
£360.69
*ArcticCoolinFreezer7ProCPUCoolSocket775 £014.08
*OCZGameXStream600wSilentSLIReadyATX2PowerSupply £082.24
*SeagateBarracuda7200.1200GST SATA II 8MB Cache
£053.99
total= £582.03

*Radeon X1800xt
*PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-111D
*Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic

will this all compile nicelly and is there anything iv missed?

All looks good to me, I'd personally prefer 2gb over lower latencies as I think the extra memory would be of more benefit for my uses but it might limit the overclock I suppose.
