Not having much building experience (that's recent) i've been taking it slowly.

Have come to a small snag however for linking the psu to the gfx card. Basically the supplied thermaltake pci-e cable has;

1x6 pin (has to be connected at the psu side)
and for the card side it has;
1x6 with loose 1x2 pair
1x8 block

The connections for the msi9750 are two blocks of 6.
Hopefully the a picture explains it better.

Similar issue to this thread here on ocuk but I have a single block of 8 rather than 2x 6+2 connectors to contend with.

So;

o do both gfx card connectors need to be used i.e. use 1x 6+2 (i think so and other thread indicates so)

o do I need an adaptor (8 -> 6+2)

o do I use a pair of snips and 'disconnect' the last block of 2 I don't need and connect it that way

o Am I missing something completely obvious/have I bought the wrong kit :(

many thanks for any help, desperate to get it booted up. I havn't had a dedicated gfx card for a very long time !

Yes you will need to use both PCI-E connectors. Will the 8 pin block not fit in the furthest slot (obviously it will overhang between the two connectors)?

I did briefly try this but couldn't get the block pattern to match up (squares, circle things) where I needed the extra two in the overhang area.

I did get a 6 pin to molex (with the gfx card) and a strip molex female to 6 pin (with psu) but I don't know if this is a good idea or if it would work at all.

Seemingly I can get 6/8 pin converter which may be best though I am slightly annoyed as I'm wondering if my PSU is good enough (I had seen it quoted on slightly higher specs than mine) :confused:

The PSU is fine, its just not compatible with some GPU's in your case its not.
Just use the adapters, thats what they are for :)

No harm in asking as it often saves problems down the line but that one always makes me laugh....."should I use this adapter that is supplied with xxx".....they wouldn't include it if it wasn't OK to use :p

Haha, thanks guys, the molex strip did indeed work. Benchmarking and testing now.

My initial hesitation was due to me lumping those cables together with the mobo ones :o
