So my uncle called me up last night telling me he wants me to build him a PC with a budget a £1.25K. He said he didn't want to spend too little as he does't want it to be "cheap" ad quite frankly, he earns a lot of bloody money. He'll be doing a lot of video encoding and CAD work etc, he doesn't game himself but his son will also be using it who plays games like Crysis and other crazy games at 1920 x 1080 so a 5870 was chosen. Also will be overclocking to 4Ghz. Any of you guys got any advice you'd like to add? I hate spending this amount of money, even if it's not mine. Thanks a lot.

id change the cooler to the notcua £50 one, ud get a better OC. apart from that damn you, can only afford a 5850 atm =[

Either change to the Noctua as above, or add a 120mm fan as the megahelems is just the passive tower, alternatively the corsair H50 is similar price and performance too

Cough!!! Excuse Me. I would like to see some benchmarks to back your theory on the Noctua being better than a push/pull Megalahems. I very much doubt you will.

I've not seen any recent ones favour the noctua either, though I daresay he can find some of the noctua beating a fanless megalahems.

This is a gaming build. That isn't suited to cad, and you should be building for the user not his son. A £300 graphics card which cannot do anything for cad is a joke. Get a NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800 Graphics adapter - 768 MB at £370 instead, it'll make an enormous difference. No, his son will not be able to play crisis on it. Ask your uncle straight up if he wants it to be good at cad or at gaming, as he can't have both in a single machine.

The case may be an issue regarding cooling, but the graphics card is the glaring error here.
