I'm building a computer and I'm scared about damaging parts. I wanted to ask, do you guys have any advice for first-time builders. And is there anything you should do after the build is up to running? Thanks!

Take your time with it, there are plenty of videos on YouTube that will assist you and many on here that are happy to help :)

Some of the below will likely seem obvious but it's usually the obvious we forget lol.
  • Watch some videos on youtube... honestly they're far rougher with pc stuff than we are usually.
  • Read ALL the instructions...
  • Plan the order you intend to install, think about cable locations/routes and access to things like power/fan sockets when things like a cpu cooler is installed (especially 8pin power and fan cables if it's a big chunky air cooler)
  • Make sure you use common sense with air flow.. think bottom to top or front to back (most fans have arrows showing air flow direction on them)
  • Take your time doing one part at a time
  • Have plenty of space to 'spread out' in an organised way and have a tray/tub for spare/loose screws
  • Have tweezers available for dealing with small parts if you have big hands... my sausage fingers don't work well with the fan connectors for example
  • velcro straps and/or wire twists (like you use on food bag) for temp cable management (ie get it out of the way)
Once built....Honestly, not much really
If it fires up I go into the bios and change a few bits like boot order, xmp and then it's off to install windows.
When in windows I normally grab/update any missing/old drivers along with a few 'essential' utils (msi afterburner for example) plus AMD Ryzen Master or Intel XTU for a quick stress test to see temps.
If all good then I just go about setting up windows

my advice is to read the mobo manual and other manuals a couple of times over, look up and research things that you dont understand.

the actual building part is easy if you are very careful and patient, dont force anything.

the only part i ever broke was a RAM slot, I was removing a RAM stick and it was a pig to remove.
