Building PC (Spec Please)

I'm actually posting on behalf of a friend. He's wanting to build a Conroe Rig that will be used all round, gaming and work. He has a £1200 budget but also needs a Monitor!

Update: He currently has nothing, needs everything!

Thanks for the rapid response Stelly, just been on the phone to him with the specification youve suggested, hes very keane on adding 7.1 speakers, would you suggest an alternitive sound card?
