heya,

I have recently bought computer parts. I have connected the connections to all the bits of hardware, so this is the first time i want to turn the desktop on. is there anything i need to know before doing this? anything that can damage my parts?

Also what is BIOS? do i need to change anything in the BIOS to make things work/avoid damage?

I have a windows xp CD which I wish to install.

cheers

As long as the motherboard is screwed to the case using the copper/brass mounts then all should be fine. You can't plug something somewhere it isn't meant to go :)

If you've forgotten something or it's not quite in right, your motherboard will bleep at you.

If you get some random crashes once it is up and running, check the power settings in the BIOS for the RAM.... Did my head it when I had that problem. :)
