Well, As some know, I have been trying to build a rig on the dead cheap. I have now got the following:

Coolermaster 830
E7300
EVGA 680i
2x 1GB OCZ 6400
9800 GT
Creative XFI elite pro
500w PSU
Akasa CPU sink
1x 500GB & 1x 80GB HDD's
and some Noctua fans for cooling :D

Not bad for £87.46 :D

Took a while, waiting for bit's to pop up on the cheap, but it has :D Reason for doing it on the ultra cheap is that I console game, so didn't want to build a insane PC gaming rig again as it would go to waste.

Hopefully picking up PSU and CPU sink today. Machine is already built, just waiting.

Odd that I used to have a £3k+ rig only a few years ago, seems pointless now as the above will do just fine :D

That's really impressive! I've been thinking about selling my i5 setup for a while now as my PS3 sees so much more use, and you have given me a lot to think about.

Nice one, it's true that nowadays you can build doable rig for pennies, stuff like AM2+ boards can sometimes be had for as low as 15quid, cases often go for free, non top quality or older PSUs go for silly money and good 2nd hand GPUs can be had from 30+.

If you were to wait for cheap parts and search for the best bargains, I'd say it won't be had to have something like PII 550 unlocked to x4 and oced to 3.7ghz, am2+ or older am3 mobo and say 4870 1gb for as low as 150 for full system including case, psu and hdd.

Just grabbed some pics, sending them from my BB at the moment so might take a while to upload. Looks naked at the moment, but shows how the case layout is.

Cheers for all the comments, to be honest, all I will play on it is CSS, TF2 and MAYBE WoW when I am in dire need of entertainment. Other than that, it will be used for browsing and some editing :)

EDIT: I also got a E6300 with the E7300, the E7300 is in my temp rig I am on at the moment in a slim desktop machine, so will test the rig with the 6300 first.

Well, all up and running with Win 7, finished last night. Cranked up the CPU to 3.25ghz... Not a bad clock from 2.67 :D

Only 2gb of memory though, needs 4gb really for win 7, but will buy another 2 sticks at the end of the month.

Installed TF2, 100fps average :D 1920x1080 @ max settings (no AA or AF though...). Very pleased for a budget build.

Will keep me going for a while, however the thirst for watercooling has kicked in already... Used to be an avid WC'er but costs too much :(

Not nearly as cheap as above but I started with a Lian Li case, PSU, 250Gb HDD and DVD-RW, 3 x 80mm fans.

I got new,
AMD Athlon II 260 3.2GHz £40
ASUS M4A78LT-M - LE AM3 £35
HSF from OCUK £0.49

and second hand
4Gb Elpida DDR3 1333MHz £28

£103.50 Upgrading, replacing a friends DELL system.
