Built a second pc from spares...

I used some old parts to make a second pc. But im having problems

Its spec is the following.

Dfi nf2 ultra infinity
athlon xp2500
512mb ram
Geforce mx400 (this is the problem...)

Windows installed okay, but when im trying to install graphics drivers, the ones ive downloaded from the Nvidia website, it gets into installation stage and says it cant continue because the drivers may be corrupted.

This has happened with two different drivers from 2 sources.

Any ideas?

In system properties it doesnt have "Display Adapter" either. which im miffed by

what version of the drivers are you trying to install ?

93.71 forceware.

its what the nvidia site said to download for the mx400

Same damn error is coming up when im trying to install mouse drivers too.

Thats whats annoying me. I only have one mouse handy at the minute, my G5 in this pc...

so i plug it into this other pc..

it says "usb mouse found" on the windows screen, but the bugger doesnt move anywhere!

Its some old stuff like, could indeed be a problem!

got some old pc parts off a friend, had a bit bother getting it up and running, Can get it to sit on desktop fine, and open IE etc. but it just doesnt seem to want drivers installed

Bah its too late at night , im gonna get stressed out messing about with this thing lol

Ill try a fresh format, reseat ram etc.

I sold a bunch of good parts a while back, decent ram and a 6800gt which woulda been a nice basic runner.

wish i never got rid of them bits now, this lot seems a bit ropey

Had an infinity myself not so long ago. They could be fussy with the ram sometimes from what i read/found. Great overclocking boards though just like the lanparty....still got mine somewhere and looking forward to getting it running with a xpm in it for the kids....overclocked of course

Yeah i loved this board. Had my 2500 at 3200 speeds for a long time.

Only problem with the board was the cold boot issues at times, where you would have to turn it off and on a couple of times before it booted.
