Built in web cam

I have a built in webcam on my new laptop, but nothing knows its there. Cant find anything in control panel about it.

Is there any standard thing to do to make them work?

i'd go and check control panel and then system then hardware then device manager and check that the web cam is there, it should be under USB Devices i think, well i assume it would be

the webcam should just work, have you tried it on say msn or perhaps microsoft movie maker? it should come up a source on there to record from.

anything in the supplied documentation, sometimes there a hot key to enable it, but is should show in my computer as a video device

I went through all control panel and never found anything. MSN wouldnt work, said there was no camera.

Dug out the manual on CD and loaded that up. Found a hot key. Activated that, and it loaded all the drivers. Thought it would have all been installed if I bought a pre installed laptop. Llaptop doesnt seem to have any of the software the manual talks about for videoing, but its working now and showing on MSN.
