Built My 4K Gaming PC...

Nice to know your experience has been a good one so far. Sounds like the gsync monitor is paying off nicely ;)

Actually I have been fortunate as I built the exact same computer for my dad at the same time. The only difference is that he got the Acer 4k monitor without GSync. After using both you can tell how GSync works, on the non 4k you get those typical slight frame drops every now and then. With GSync it's just smooth all the time even when the frame counter drops to the low 40's.

A 980 with 4k GSync is the way to go :)

Nice to read a thread for a change about users saying how good 4k is in instead of reading post after post saying its not quite there or you have no chance or its years away yet from users who haven't even tried it.

:)

I sold a MSI 970 to get a KFA 980 first with the 4k monitor and it was okay but I had to turn down detail and it ran hot. I was quite surprised how hot it got. It also didnt seem smooth. So then when the Galax were on offer I went for two. First time running SLI and I was surprised about how trouble free it was. The settings I had to turn down for the 980 I could whack on full/ultra. Only thing that made it chug was AA but even with on/off you cant see a difference.

I played the latest COD all way through the end with everything on max and also tried Shadow of Morder Ultra textures which was smooth I was surprised. If I turned gsync off though I got stutters. Turned it back on and smooth again.

The Galax did run hot though. 60c-65c bottom 70-80c top. When I found out I could not install full cover waterblocks I then installed two Kraken G10's with AIO coolers and now the top maxes out at about 51-54c and the bottom 40/41c. Thats with the fans on really low too 650rpm.

Then I sent my monitor back, sniff, and not seen it since.....

Thanks, interesting post Varkanoid. I am happy with my 980 at the moment but I suspect if I was to try something like Dying Light I might need SLI.

Tried Dying Light today:

Maximum detail at 4k and it runs well. The game looks stunning to be honest!

Just got a 980 Inno3d and it is soo much better than the KFA SOC I had. Not got it above 55c yet in the benchmarks and it is so quiet. Fan goes up and sticks at 41% too. Incredible cooling on it.

I JUST NEED MY 4K MONITOR BACK NOW. AGGGHH.

Ooops, public now :)

My Palit runs cool. I got a Fractal Design R5 case this week and its dropped my temps nicely. The case looks great.
