First of all, here are my specs;

** Do Not link to competitors **

So I built my ever PC, not as easy as YouTube tutorials would have you believe!

Anyhow, I have a few concerns

  1. My memory according to the bios is at 2400mhz, how do I ramp it up, but keep good timings?
  2. CPU temp on idle sits around 40 degrees
  3. My case fans are terribly slow. I connected the fans of the case (3 supplied on this specific case) to the PMC wire, which I then connected to the CHA_FAN2 on the motherboard. The Fractal manual states to plug this into the CPU_FAN plug, however I was worried to do so as that would mean having to plug the CPU fan into another plug, which I didn't want to risk it.
  4. The motherboard doesn't give a BEEP on booting up as my old PC does (maybe things have moved on since then)
  5. The CROSSHAIR VII light flashes, I want to keep it at white without pulsing on beating

1) all RAM will run at 2400Mhz by default. You need to set the RAM specified speed in BIOS, or better still use one of the Stilt's profiles (which are in the BIOS).
2) Ryzen idling at 40 degrees is par for the course.
3) You fans should work from any fan header. It is best to keep your cooler fan in the CPU fan header, just so in monitoring software the CPU reading is the CPU fan (the CPU fan header is the same spec as the others). You can set the fan profile/speed in BIOS or use ASUS AI suite (which you can turn off after setting the fans and you don't need it to run again, the PC will remember the settings). You can run 3 fans off one header with no issue.
4) There will be no boot beep, because the board does not have a beep speaker. The board does have a beep speaker header if you want to have a beeper (it's a tiny speaker on a short lead). The numbers are more diagnostic than a beeper.
5) I'm not sure what you mean by the light. There are two areas of controllable lighting on the board, plus any lighting your cooler or fans have. Asus Aura is the board lighting software (again you don't need to run it again after setting).

You want to go here if you have not:

Thanks, memory seem to be sorted according to HWinfo, running at 3495mhz at 15-15-15-35

Still not sure about the fans, as the case and mobo tell me two different things. Mobo manual tells me CPU to CPU_FAN. Fractal's manual tells me all 3 case fans + CPU fan to PMC, and PMC to CPU_FAN. The 3 case fans (all connected to the Fractal PMC) are quite slow. The

cpu to cpu_fan to keep it simple but realistically it doesn't matter because each fan header including cpu fan header is only going to supply 1A so the power supplied is the same.

I'd do cpu to cpu fan like suggested above so at least if you monitor your system from the bios or other software cpu fan means cpu fan.

Thanks guys.

Ran into another issue. Trying to locate Precision Boost Overdrive in my bios, YouTube videos with my motherboard show where to find it however I don't have the option in my bios

The reason it's suggesting you plug the PMC cable into the CPU header is because the fan controller is controlled by the CPU's fan PWM signal. The controller hub will take signal from the motherboard and distribute it to all 6 fans.

I assume the fans are slow because temperatures are low, but it's worth testing by changing the fan speeds in AI Suite or similar.

I've noticed a new issue, where from a cold boot (i.e. the PC is turned off at the PSU switch) it will turn on for a about 2 seconds, prior to the Asus ROG logo appearing, and shut down, and then restart normally itself.

It does not do that if I shut the PC down and leave the switch on at the back of the PSU

Is this normal?

Yes, it's normal. Mine does it up to 3 times from a cold boot. And so did the Crosshair VI. I think it's RAM training attempts (you can change the max number of attempts it will make in the BIOS).

Thanks. Is there a way to turn it off, as the ram settings I have now are stable, so from what I understand there's not need for the ram training attempts.

Can't seem to find where it is on my Mobo Bios (Crosshair VII X470)
