Bulldozer for F@H

I've not been in here for a while, it's a bit daunting!

I'm considering starting folding again and am that very familiar feeling stage of wondering what kit to get.

i7 bigadv was the king when I was folding before, but people were always wondering what bulldozer could bring to the party. Has it arrived now, and are there any indications as to whether it will push the i7 off Intel's PPD pedestal?

I'm still running my quad core opteron which never returned much so am wondering if it is worth looking at adding a couple of GFX cards and foregoing the points the CPU would have given, or spending the money on an i7 rig.

Is bulldozer changing the game?

Bulldozer hasn't arrived yet - a lot of people are wondering what it will do

-bigadv is still king of the hill, running on Linux rather than windows. There have been some recent additions to the -bigadv units (obtainable with the argument -bigbeta) you have to be running 12 cores or more though. Therefore if you want monster scores then its multiple xeons or opterons - see BaBa's score and the Hydra thread here
