"According to a roadmap leaked by a Swedish forum, the desktop version of Bulldozer comes by April. Engineering samples of Zambezi AM3+ CPU are expected in December 2010 and hopefully this has already happened.

Production candidate 32nm silicon should be ready by February 2011 and the CPU should be production ready by March 2011.

The launch should take place in April, which is the first month of Q2 2011. Many people expected this CPU at a later date, and this up to 8-core processor series might be something to get AMD much needed traction and attention.

The Scorpius platform also comes with AMD 990FX Northbridge that can take care of 2x16 PCIe Crossfire mode and it comes matched with SB950. The new SB950 southbridge supports Raid 5, 14 USB 2.0, 6 SATA ports at 6Gb/s as well as AMD overdrive. Unfortunately there is no native USB 3.0 support.

Scorpius also supports AMD 990X chipset with two 8X PCIe Crossfire capable slots, AMD 880G in AMD3+ version that has one 16X PCIe slot as well as integrated DX10.1 graphics card at 560MHz. The last chipset to support Scorpius needs is AMD 970 and this little one has only one PCIe16X slot, but the vast majority of people don't need more anyway. "

If this news is true then Intel only have a three to four month lead with Sandy Bridge. Hopefully,Bulldozer will be competitive as it should mean lower CPU prices for the consumer.

Indeed. I'm tempted to wait.. but then how many times can I keep waiting, especially as 2 people I know want to buy my old PC parts. I think I'll just take the plunge. If Bulldozer batters sandy, I'll just upgrade the CPU and MB again. At least I'll have the ram, and can likely sell the MB and CPU for a reasonable price compared to my rapidly aging DDR2 and Q6600.

Yeah i'll be moving to SB next month but i'll keep an eye on Bulldozer. It just means a new motherboard and CPU if I decide to switch to it. :)

Yes its will be Q2 2011 and using Socket AM3+ but if you own AM3 motherboard then you cannot using AM3+ CPU as it wont work only you need is buy motherboard and CPU as bundle - I wont buy as VAT go up from 1st Jan also I rather wait next few years for new AM4 with DDR4 that will be new DDR4 due by 2013 also by 2012 Microsoft will release new Windows 8 so I will buy some hardwares and Win 8 after these hardwares are release. Im keep my AM3 just now - no point to upgrade to AM3+.. save my money just now for next few years..

thx nice article am also half tempted to hang onto my Q6600 combo, its not like its even slow even @ default clocks, and im not exactly enabling AA/AF either.

I may just slowly upgrade my bits rather then rush into it that way the bits I really need can get em ready like...

I think by April/Summer we should have the new LG IPS LED 23"+ Panels, and AMD goodies at least, but will see :)

The LG IPS moitors should be out during Q1 (we will review them on our website) so you can probably buy them when the price has come down a little after launch. Why am I talking about monitors on Christmas day? Argh :p
