Evening All,

So recently picked up a FX 8150 (Don't hurt me) while I know it's not the best gaming performer however for graphics design work the extra cores really helps for the price. However enough trying to justify the purchase and onto the real questions.

So I've overclocked my Phenom II 955 which I use for gaming (3.8 Ghz) so I know most of what is involved in overclocking an AMD CPU however are the temperature thresholds the same? Preferably below 62 degrees is or is the FX chip more resilient?

Are there any recommendations for voltages i.e what you should stay below. Finally, what should I realistically be aiming for in terms of clock speed? I will be using a Crosshair V Formula and the Asatek cooler (Kuhler 920) Watercooling kit that comes bundled with the chip.

Thanks

Here are perfect settings for the CHV Bulldozer 8150; I got these last night and ran prime95 perfectly for about 20 minutes.

disable
Cool 'n Quiet
C1E
C6

Set load line calibration - Ultra high 75%
Cpu Overcurrent Protection - 140%
vCore 1.4v

FSB = 215
Multiplier = 21

you will have to set your CPU-NB voltage to 1.375v
to get 2580mhz HT

for 4.7 ghz your looking at a ~1.5v overclock and that is going to take some serious cooling you would need a 240mm Rad water cooler at least.

This will actually give you upto 5 fps in gaming.

Failing that I find turning of CnQ C1E and C6 enough as this gives me a constant 8 core turbo of 3.9ghz with a voltage of 1.380v. I use the DOCP for 1866mhz ram so that works out a lot better for me.
