Bulldozer platform?

Just a quick question.... I'm getting needless upgrade fever with Sandy Bridge, but I have no call to upgrade :(

1090T with 8GB of memory, no justification...

However later this year I understand AMD goes 32nm with Bulldozer. Will I be able to drop in one of them, or are they going to be on an incompatible platform to AM3?

You can drop your CPU into a new AM3+ motherboard but you can't drop a bulldozer into your current motherboard. Partial backwards compatibility...

Ah. Damn. So I'd have to drop the CPU and motherboard for Bulldozer.

I'm tempted, if the power consumption benefits are similar to Sandy Bridge. That was where I felt bad when I looked at what I've got in comparison.

30W seems to be the difference at idle and double that or more under load. Load probably isn't significant for long term power consumption though.

I'll need to wait and see how efficient the platforms turn out to be.

I would rather to wait until 2-3 years for new AMD AM4 as DDR4 will come out next year so Im start to save up some money for my next new hardwares and keep my AM3 with X6 1100T as spare PC -- at the moment Im using 1100T that prefect running all way and decided not to buy AM3+ Bulldozer...
