Hello.

It will be time for me to upgrade my pc soon and was wondering if people could give me a bit of advice.

I currently have the following:

Coolermaster elite 430 case
Coolermaster hyper tx3 evo cpu cooler
AMD Phenom 9500
Motherboard - Not exactly sure to be honest. The MB and CPU are from an Acer Aspire ASM5100 desktop
Corsair TX 650W V2 PSU - 80plus Bronze Certified
Corsair 4GB Kit (2x2GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 XMS2
Asus geforce gtx550ti

I know that getting an I5 bundle is going to be good but for the sake of saving money and the fact that my cpu has not given anything but good service over 4 years will an AMD based bundle do me a good job?

Thank you in advance for any advice

Right now AMD are quite lacking behind in terms of performance and value for money.

The recently brought out Piledriver is not equal in performance to the latest Ivy i3's unless heavily overclocked but that will use up a lot of power and at least £30 for an air cooler. By then your looking at getting an i5 for the price.

Whats your total budget for an upgrade as well? And what will be the use for the system.

I play games mostly but not at the highest settings. I will be upgrading the graphics card later on when I can afford to. At the moment I am playing WoW, Darksiders 2 and Minecraft without any problems. I just want to be able to play future games comfortably. I was initially aiming for around £300-350 mark but If I am able to spend less then that would be good.

Also when it comes to getting a bundle I need to make sure the cpu cooler will fit in my case.

I'm not at the computer at the moment but from memory I reckon I have maybe 2-3cm.

the dimensions of my current cpu cooler are: Dimension (W / H / D) 90 x 79 x 136 mm

I only bought the CPU cooler sa temporary measure for my amd. I don't think i have the parts to fit it to a Intel chip anymore.
