Guys im torn - my overclocking skills are limited to be frank but i really need to get some upgrades.

Does it usually work out better financially to buy the individual components or grab a bundle becasue its easier?

thanks

It's usually cheaper to buy the individual parts than an overclocked bundle.

Buying an overclocked bundle is easier.

You can have cheaper or easier. Only you can decide what your preference is.

If you're looking at Sandybridge it's dead easy to overclock it yourself.

good advice - so if i had £300 ish to spend what would you go for? All i need is Ram, an I5 of some description and a motherboard

thanks

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor £173.99

MSI P67A-C45 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) ** B3 REVISION ** £89.98

Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit £39.98

Total £304.

You'll get a decent overclock with the stock cooler but higher if you can get a better one.

Only one PCI-E slot so no SLI or Crosfire.

The MSI P67A-GD53 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) ** B3 REVISION ** is a better board at £109.99 but it's out of stock at the moment. This board was just added to Custom PC's Elite list of components.

sorry to intrude so if your not looking to do crossfire or sli this is still a cracking board with the 2500k?

What the GD53?

The GD53 has USB Super Charger, on-board power, reset and overclocking switches, comes with an SLI bridge and uses HI-c CAP's (better quality components).

Strangely the C45 has 4 USB 3.0 ports and the G45 only 2.

On the G45 firewire has also been removed.

Here's a review of the GD53:
